About HomeModsAU
Helping Australians navigate home modifications and connect with qualified local specialists.
Who We Are
HomeModsAU is an Australian information and referral service. We help NDIS participants, families, support coordinators, and elderly Australians understand their home modification options and connect with qualified builders and tradespeople in their area.
We are not a building company, a registered NDIS provider, or a government agency. We do not employ tradespeople or perform installations. Instead, we act as a matching service — sharing your enquiry with relevant local specialists who can provide quotes and carry out the work.
How We Select Providers
We work with a network of home modification specialists across Australia. Providers in our network are expected to:
- Hold relevant builder or trade licences for their state or territory
- Carry appropriate insurance (public liability and/or professional indemnity)
- Be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission where required
- Demonstrate experience with home modifications (bathroom modifications, stairlifts, ramps, grab rails, and related work)
- Comply with Australian building standards, including AS 1428 (access and mobility) and the National Construction Code
We review provider credentials before adding them to our network. However, we recommend that you independently verify licences, insurance, and references before engaging any provider.
How Our Lead Matching Works
When you submit a lead form through our website:
- Review: We review your request to understand your modification needs and location.
- Matching: We identify suitable providers from our network who serve your area and offer the type of modification you need.
- Referral: We share your details (name, phone, email, suburb, and modification needs) with a relevant provider who contacts you directly.
- No obligation: You are under no obligation to proceed. You decide whether to engage the provider after discussing your needs.
We typically match each enquiry with one provider. You may receive follow-up from that provider only. We do not sell your data or share it for unrelated purposes.
Editorial Policy
Our guide content — including articles about NDIS funding, home modification types, and city-specific information — is researched and written to provide accurate, helpful information. We aim to:
- Cite official sources where possible (NDIS, NDIA, Australian Standards, state building authorities)
- Distinguish between official guidance and general commentary
- Review and update content regularly to reflect policy changes
- Label sponsored or paid content clearly (we currently have none)
Our content is for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute funding advice, clinical recommendations, or a guarantee of NDIS plan approval. Always consult with an occupational therapist, NDIS planner, or support coordinator for individual advice.
Medical and Disability Disclaimer
The information on this website is not medical, clinical, or therapeutic advice. Home modifications can affect your health, safety, and independence. We strongly recommend:
- Consulting an occupational therapist (OT) for a functional assessment before planning modifications
- Seeking independent clinical or medical advice about your specific needs
- Engaging licensed and insured builders for all installation work
- Verifying your NDIS plan and funding with your plan manager or NDIA planner
We are not healthcare providers, occupational therapists, or registered NDIS providers. We do not assess medical needs, approve funding, or supervise construction work.
